Local Election Delivers Great Result For Our Greenbelt

We think it's safe to say that the people of M41 made their feelings known yesterday and with some relief we are delighted that all the hard work put in thus far to protect Willy Wroe for now and future generations can continue on a forward path. We as a community group have learned not to take anything for granted during the last two and a half years of this campaign, so with this in mind the residents of M41 can be assured that we will pursue with vigour, the Labour adminis tration to make good on the pledges made in regards to both Willy Wroe and G H Carnall Leisure Centre. 🌳 🌳 🌳 🌳  Team SFGB  🌳 🌳 🌳 🌳

My Flixton Neighbourhood Planning Group Event 7th June 2018

Image
Although great progress has been achieved in protecting our Green Belt there is more that we can do. Together as a community we have demonstrated the power that can yield when a common vision is shared about something we care about. Groups working together whether it be to protect the Green Belt, bringing pride to our public gardens and pushing for public facilities to remain open, have shown what can be achieved, but we feel more can be done. Therefore we think the next step is to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Flixton to protect, enhance and maintain all the assets that mean so much to the identity of this community. With the above in mind we would like to invite you to a presentation event this Thursday 7th June 2018 between 7 30 and 9 pm at: John Alker Memorial Hall, Flixton Road, Flixton, M41 6QY

Well what a month that was.

Apologies yet again for not being able to give you regular updates but as you appreciate it has been tremendously busy time for the group so therefore our time has been limited. So here is what ahs happened in the last 6 or so weeks in brief. April saw us publish our local election campaign leaflet. 7000 leaflets were printed and distributed by our fantastic community of volunteers in Flixton, Urmston, Davyhulme East and West. May 1st saw us get some celebrity campaign publicity with none other than Eddie Izzard who popped in to poppies café (pardon the pun) as part of the Labour Party Local Election Campaign in M41. May 3rd saw what could possibly the defining point in our campaign to Save Flixton Green Belt. Labour took seats in Flixton, Davyhulme East and Davyhulme West from the Conservatives, these victories coupled with a Labour victory in Brooklands and the Green party taking two seats in Altrincham also off the Conservatives meant that Andrew Western became leader of T...
