Sunday 4th February 2018 :Council Approved Minutes of Meeting With SFGB Are Here

Hi Folks
We finally have the minutes from our meeting with Sean Anstee, officers and planners available for your perousal.
Your all going to have opinion on them but we would like to give you a brief summary of where we think we’re at.
Although we have been fighting these proposals to build on our green belt since October 2016 the process has been rewound back to the start due to the GM Mayor Andy Burnhams insistence on a radical re-write of the GMSF (Greater Manchester Spatial Framework) to which these proposals fall under.
As you will see in the minutes, Clare Taylor Russell Trafford Borough Councils head of strategic planning who is charged with dealing with Traffords allocation as part of the GMSF when asked specific questions about how figures were arrived at, responded with words like ‘average density assumptions’ and that the process is ‘iterative’. Effectively we are at the start of this process again (consultation stage) only now we have the advantage of being involved in this thing for 15 months and this time we’ll be ready when it comes at us this June.
Exact up to date data for us to work with is not available at this stage but as the GMSF progresses this will improve and become more accurate and relevant allowing for greater scrutiny. We would also like to add that the commissioning of independent planners ‘Urban Imprint’ by the FUDFP group has made the council aware that this community takes this issue seriously and as this process advances, and if we are still at an impasse over these proposals then a further commissioning of independent planners will probably have to take place.
As a footnote the group welcomes Trafford’s U turn regarding the closure of the G H Carnall which will now receive investment for redevelopment as a ‘Sports Activity, Health and Well Being Hub’. Although we need to scrutinise the proposals further for both ULC and G H Carnall, we feel never the less this is a result for M41. We as a group are proud of our small contribution to this campaign but real recognition should be given to Maureen Dickinson, Irene Codd, Michael Reavy and Keith Evans for their tireless work bringing this issue to our communities attention and to finish off a big thank you to the 5000 members of our community who signed the petition to save it.
